A Rose is a Rose III

This cute little pillow is made another from my Rose is a Rose series of pillows featuring digitally printed canvas using photos I took of a vase of roses I had in my living room.

To add a bit of fun to the pillow, I stitched some vintage bobble pom-pom trim to each.

The pillow has a floral cotton back and is stuffed with polyester toy fill.

A Rose is a Rose IV

This cute little pillow is the fourth in my Rose is a Rose series based on photographs I took of a vase of roses.

Adding a frill made from a torn strip of yellow and white striped cotton I think makes the pillow a bit more fun.

The perfect accessory for a ladies' boudoir or girl's bedroom.

The pillow has a cotton back and is stuffed with polyester toy fill.

Kiss Kiss

This cute and colourful little pillow is another in my series of digitaly manipulated images that I've printed onto canvas.

The image on this pillow is a crop of a digitally manipulated photo of white feathers on a very green lawn.  Unfortunately, some poor birdy had met its end on my neighbour's front lawn and the contrast of the white feathers on the green grass was more than I could resist so I took a load of photos - macabre of me, I know.

Looking at this one I noticed what looks like red lips & white teeth which gave me its title, Kiss Kiss.

This time, I've added a double frill of red and pink silks for extra texture.

The pillow has a cute back of white polka dots on pink and is stuffed with polyester toy fill.

Baubles & Beads II

This cute little pillow measures just 9" x 7" (23cm x 18cm) and is made from silk. I added a bit of fun by printing onto organza an image I had taken of a bead & wire brooch that I had made a while back. I then zig zag stitched the organza onto the silk pillow front making unique little accent pillow.

The pillow is stuffed with polyester toy fill.

I have another little silk pillow available in my etsy store as well as loads more fibre fantasies.

Interwoven Orange Mini II

This unique little square accent pillow measures just 9.5" (24cm) and started life as a piece of unprimed artist's cotton canvas. I hand printed various shapes onto the canvas using acrylic paint. I then ripped the canvas into strips and wove them back together adding in random pieces of velvet ribbon and hand dyed silk organza. This weaving was then randomly machine stitched onto a calico backing to form this lush and luxurious cushion cover.

The back is made from sturdy unprimed artist's cotton canvas and the pillow is stuffed with polyester toy fill.

My Creative Space

This week it's all about Christmas...

I rearranged my living room furniture earlier this year and no longer had anywhere cat-proof to put a Christmas tree so I decided to make a something that I could hang from the door. As most of my decorations are pin-dolls I could then just pin them to the hanging.  In keeping with my use it up before buying anything new policy, I went through my fabric box and came up with some calico and some hand-dyed silk organza in a perfect pine tree green and this is what resulted.

Which together with my Xmas pin-doll collection...

Ended up like this...

I have to say I'm pretty pleased with it and it won't take up much space to store - the "tree" will hang in the wardrobe and the decorations fit into shoebox.

My Creative Space

This week it's all about Weaving...

I've been working with this idea for a whole but have a few bits of woven canvas left and am playing around with what to do with them - more accent pillows or something else...

These woven pieces and pillows started out as artworks that I completed while studying towards a Diploma of Visual Art.  Originally, I hand printed unprimed artist's canvas with different shapes.  Once dry, I tore the canvas into strips then wove them back together adding in hand-dyed silk organza and velvet ribbons.  I then randomly machine stitched the woven piece onto a calico back.

I decided that they'd make great decorator pillows/cushions so that's what they've mostly become.

These pillows and other fabulous fibre fantasies are available in my etsy store with more to come.
